Travelled on the spirit of Britain, Friday evening, which I was bumped on to, slightly earlier than my planned crossing. All Ferries were delayed all over the place.

From Dover station you'll need to take a taxi or walk (it takes about 30 mins on foot) to Dover Port Travel Centre. On the Calais side there's a shuttle bus which goes between the train station in the town and the port. It costs a couple of Euros (have change ready) and the journey is about 10 minutes. We took the Highlander to Belfast and back last weekend, both sailings were on time and loading of the cars was efficient both times. Loads of teenagers on ski trips, playing loud music and football! Don't think I could have coped with that and our two and five year old with us!
